Bundaberg Special School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school.
Our core business is providing a safe, friendly learning environment which caters to and celebrates the abilities of our students.
Our 3 School Rules are:
- Be Safe
- Be a Friend
- Be a Learner
These three rules are embedded in our school program. Our Student Code of Conduct can be found under forms in our Forms and Documents folder on this page.
Staff at our school have been trained in MAPA behaviour support strategies which comprise of positive proactive strategies including active supervision, building a rapport with students, setting achievable expectations, encouraging open ended discussion, encouraging student independence and self-management strategies, assisting with understanding social stories and ongoing positive communication methodologies.
Our whole school behaviour lessons are implemented each week from Prep to Year 12. Each week we identify an important skill which will assist students to develop active and positive behaviour skills. All students and staff are encouraged to model the important learning which is embedded in these lessons.
Each sector of the school has a behaviour support recording process which identifies and records student behaviour. We support all students in a positive manner and celebrate success in age appropriate ways.
