Bundaberg Special School has a dedicated team of teachers and teacher aides who are committed to providing learning experiences that build futures for our students through curriculum that is designed to build and broaden knowledge and understanding of the world in which they live and integrate. The curriculum is differentiated to meet the unique learning needs of individual students. Students engage in curriculum learning at their appropriate level of challenge that is documented through their Individual Curriculum Plan.
Students in Prep to Year 10 engage in learning through modified age equivalent units of work, across all eight learning areas – English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), The Arts, Technologies, Health and Physical Education, and Languages. Students in Years 3-10 engage in Auslan as our chosen Language.
Bundaberg Special School is committed to the implementation of Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum for students in Prep – Year 10.
Students are currently engaging in Version 9 curriculum for English, Mathematics and Science. All other learning areas will be implemented by the end of 2028.
Students in Year 11 and 12 work towards achieving their Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA) and the opportunity for VET qualifications.
Our school is divided into 4 sectors:
Junior: Prep- Year 2
Primary: Year 3 – Year 6
