Our school is fortunate to have a wonderful vibrant library that is open 4 days a week to our staff and students. It houses a well-stocked collection of over 5000 titles to appeal to all our student’s interests including a range of board books, picture books, magazines, Fiction and Non-Fiction titles. Students come to our school library to learn in a different environment and to practise skills they can transfer to the community, for example, when they access the town library.

Each fortnight every class visits the library for students to self-select books as part of their literacy program.  Each of our Junior classes also attend fun Storytime sessions each fortnight with library staff.

We encourage all of our students not only to borrow for school but also for home. Studies show that when families read books with/to their child that it helps develop the child’s communication skills, social skills, ability to focus and their concentration. It also sparks the imagination and stimulates curiosity.

To borrow a book for home all students need to do is bring a library bag. Students may borrow up to 2 books at a time for a fortnight. Books must be returned before being able to borrow the next book.

We understand that sometimes accidents happen and books are damaged. If this occurs then please just let you class teacher know. You can help you child care for our books by reminding them of our CARE rules:
C - Clean your hands before handling books
A - Always be gentle with books
R - Remember your library bag
E - Every book is special—treat with care

Our school policy has a ‘no-fine’ policy for damaged/lost books as we want to encourage all our students to borrow. If you are concerned that your child is likely to damage books then we have a special bookcase of older, pre-loved books that students can choose from.

Our library hosts a number of events throughout the year that will be advertised in our school newsletter and Facebook page.
