School chaplains are employed by SU QLD and work in State Schools under Education Queensland guidelines in a unique partnership between schools and the community. The Bundaberg Special School community would like to acknowledge and express our appreciation to the St Johns Lutheran Grace Fund for their generous financial support of the school chaplaincy program. This has enabled SU Qld to provide our school with a chaplaincy service one day a week.

The main role of the School Chaplain is to provide additional support to the schools pastoral care program and Guidance services. The Chaplain works closely with the schools support staff to assist in promoting the “well being “of students, staff and the school community.

Although not a counselling service, many people, including children, benefit from simply being given the time and opportunity to talk to someone about issues in their life that concern them. These issues can be home or school related. Some common issues are friendships difficulties, health issues, family break up, grief and loss. Part of the Chaplains role is also to provide spiritual and emotional support when needed.

The Chaplain at our school is Trina. Trina is at the schools on Mondays 8.00am - 3.30pm.  If you would like to have a chat and just connect, or if there is something Trina can help you with, or provide emotional support for either parent/carer or student, or maybe even find some resources- she would be happy to put some time aside for you.

If you would like to talk with Chappy then feel free to come and introduce yourself when you see her or alternatively please contact the school on phone (07) 4155 5222 to make an appointment.
