A very warm welcome to Bundaberg Special School.

I feel privileged to be Principal of Bundaberg Special School. I am committed to celebrating the rich history of the school and enacting the school motto “Building futures together” by engaging all learners in an inclusive, safe and respectful learning environment that values the individual, families and larger community.

Our collective goal is to pursue high expectations across our school community within a culture of continuous improvement. I look forward to continuing to lead the school with the support of our leadership teams, teaching teams and P & C, as we work on our strategic priority areas.

1. Curriculum

2. Consistent, Effective Pedagogical Practice

Priority 1: Curriculum

We are committed to students’ learning and demonstrate this by providing a curriculum that offers high quality and high equity education. Our expectations are for all students to be provided with multiple opportunities for conventional and alternative outcomes. We have a strong focus on communication skills, including the use of Alternative and Augmentative Communication and social competencies, daily living and recreational skills.

Priority 2: Consistent, Effective Pedagogical Practice

Teaching and learning is our core focus, as we aim to inspire and challenge our students. As a collective we are Building Futures Together. Staff persistently explore key strategies of Universal Design for Learning, PBL Curriculum, Lyn Sharratt’s “Leading Learning with Clarity”, Age-appropriate pedagogies, as these address individual students learning needs identified in their academic, communication and behaviour goals.

I am very humbled and excited to be Principal of Bundaberg Special School and will continue to journey with all of our students and their families to continuously ensure the best outcomes for our school.

Yours sincerely,

Lee-Ann King

Principal
