Vocational Education Training

Your child may be enrolled in one or more VET certificate courses  offered through Special Education Training Alliance (SETA) that taught by VET trained school staff.  These courses are overseen and managed by SETA central RTO based at Western Suburbs Special School(RTO 41021). On successful completion of the course your child will be awarded a nationally recognised qualification.   If your child does not complete the full qualification they will receive a Statement of Attainment outlining the units that have been completed successfully.  More information can be found at at

  • FSK10113 - Certificate 1 Access to Vocational Pathways (AVP)
  • ICT10115 - Certificate 1 Information, Digital Media and Technology (IDMT)
Certificate 1 Agrifoods
This qualification is an entry-level qualification aimed at individuals entering the agriculture, horticulture and conservation and land management industries. It allows individuals to develop basic skills and knowledge to prepare for work. They may undertake a range of simple tasks under close supervision. Students will utilize the school facilities of a working farm and nursery to use hands on learning to demonstrate their competence in this course
Certificate 1 Access to Vocational Pathways (AVP)
This certificate course focuses on job readiness skills through the teachings of literacy and numeracy with a job focus context.  AVP is designed specifically for the learning styles of students with an intellectual disability and includes the use of support strategies for students who require support to access vocational learning pathways. Learning in this course will be linked to school enterprises including the coffee shop and work experience programs

Certificate 1  Information Digital Media and Technology (IDMT)
This certificate course involves learning basic information technology software skills, giving students basic computer usage skills in areas such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, internet safety and research skills.
